Welcome to Cali Blues Cattery. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of our website and the adoption of Russian Blue kittens from our breeding program. By accessing our website or entering into an adoption agreement with us, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Adoption Agreement Terms
1. Adoption Application and Approval
- All prospective adopters must complete an adoption application
- We reserve the right to approve or deny any adoption application at our sole discretion
- Approval is based on our assessment of the best interests of the kitten
- Providing false information on an application may result in denial or cancellation of adoption
2. Deposit and Payment Terms
- Deposit: A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a kitten
- Deposit Amount: The deposit amount will be specified in your adoption agreement
- Final Payment: The remaining balance is due before or at the time of kitten pickup/delivery
- Payment Methods: We accept cash, certified check, or electronic payment methods as specified
- Deposit Application: The deposit will be applied toward the total adoption fee
3. Reservation and Waiting List
- Deposits reserve a specific kitten or place you on our waiting list for a future litter
- If reserving a specific kitten, the deposit holds that kitten for you
- If on a waiting list, you will be contacted when a suitable kitten becomes available
- Waiting list priority is generally based on deposit date, but we match kittens to families based on best fit
4. Cancellation and Refund Policy
- Buyer Cancellation: Deposits are non-refundable if the buyer cancels the adoption
- Breeder Cancellation: If we cancel the adoption for any reason, the full deposit will be refunded
- Kitten Unavailability: If the reserved kitten becomes unavailable due to health issues or death, you may choose another available kitten or receive a full refund
- Waiting List: Deposits for waiting list positions may be transferred to another litter but are not refundable if you choose not to proceed
5. Kitten Pickup and Delivery
- Pickup: Kittens must be picked up at the agreed-upon time and location
- Delivery: Delivery within California may be available for an additional fee (to be discussed)
- Timing: Kittens are typically ready for adoption at 12-14 weeks of age
- Delays: If you cannot pick up your kitten at the scheduled time, you must notify us immediately. Extended boarding may incur additional fees
Health Guarantee Terms

- All kittens are guaranteed to be healthy at the time of adoption
- You must have the kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours
- Genetic health guarantee coverage for specified period

Adopter Responsibilities
1. Care Requirements
By adopting a kitten from us, you agree to:
- Provide proper nutrition, veterinary care, and a safe indoor environment
- Keep the kitten indoors only for safety and health
- Maintain current vaccinations and preventive care
- Provide annual veterinary wellness examinations
- Never declaw the kitten (declawing is prohibited under this agreement)
- Provide appropriate socialization, enrichment, and care
2. Spay/Neuter Agreement
- Unless otherwise specified in a breeding rights agreement, all kittens must be spayed or neutered
- Spay/neuter should be completed by 6-8 months of age or as recommended by your veterinarian
- Proof of spay/neuter may be required
- Breeding without written permission violates this agreement
3. No Rehoming Without Consent
- If you can no longer care for the cat at any point in its life, you must contact us first
- We reserve the right of first refusal to take the cat back
- You may not sell, give away, or surrender the cat to a shelter without our written consent
- We are committed to the lifetime welfare of every cat we place
Breeding Rights
- Kittens are sold as pets only unless a separate breeding rights agreement is executed
- Breeding rights are granted only to approved individuals with appropriate experience and facilities
- Breeding rights require a separate contract and additional fees
- Unauthorized breeding is a violation of this agreement and may result in legal action
Limitation of Liability
- Our liability is limited to the adoption fee paid for the kitten
- We are not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- We are not liable for any injuries or damages caused by the cat after adoption
- The health guarantee outlines our specific obligations regarding kitten health
Dispute Resolution
- Any disputes arising from this agreement will first be addressed through good-faith negotiation
- If negotiation fails, disputes will be resolved through mediation in California
- This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of California
- Any legal action must be brought in the appropriate court in California

Intellectual Property
- All content on this website, including text, images, and logos, is our property or used with permission
- You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content without written permission
- Photos of our kittens and cats may not be used for any purpose without authorization

These Terms, together with any adoption agreement you sign, constitute the entire agreement between you and Cali Blues Cattery regarding the adoption of a kitten and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
